How can we help you?
Where we deliver to
Watford Timber Company Ltd recognises it's responsibilities towards the environment and accordingly purchases raw timber or timber-based products from reputable sources. We hold chain of custody certificates for FSC® and PEFC™.
The Forest Stewardship Council® is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. It was founded in 1993 in response to public concern about deforestation and demand for a trustworthy wood-labelling scheme.
The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) through independent third-party certification.
We obtain our softwood from mills that carry chain of custody for either FSC or PEFC.
Our MDF stock, which is now increasingly used for skirtings and architraves, etc., is purchased from Medite Europe Ltd who have an FSC Chain of Custody.
We stock FSC and PEFC certified plywoods. All our MDF is FSC certified and we only buy FSC certified OSB.
All our wood waste is either recycled or goes through an energy recovery programme using purpose built equipment with the resulting energy being used for heating within the company premises. The machine shops employ the latest equipment to ensure safe use and containment of dust that may be produced during the production of timber components.
At Watford Timber we only use water based treatments, which are generally regarded as more environmentally friendly than organic solvents. Our treatment facilities are completely enclosed to ensure containment of any spillage and we also monitor the water table via three wells situated on the premises.
We are registered with our Local Authority under the Environmental Protection Act.
